2 in directory create new file

Put following content at top of file

3 Edit - add following content to top of file

    "url": "/my-new-blog-post/",
    "title": "My new blog post",
    "body_classes": "post-template-default single single-post postid-3988 single-format-standard",
    "type": "article",
    "layout": "post",
    "description": "This is a new blog post.",

    "markup": "mmark",
    "categories": [
        "Glasgow Airport"
    "tags": [],
    "featured_image": "img/my-blog-image.jpg"

You need to edit the above to change the url, title, categories and featured_image.

First change url adn title to match your new blog post. The date is the date and time you wish this blog to go live, set any date in past for immediate go live of blog post. Categories are one or more comma separated of :-

“Edinburgh Airport”, “Gatwich Airport”, “Glasgow Airport”, “Travel Extras”, “Travel Guides”, “Travel Tips”

If note give, then will go under “Uncategorised”.

Note if you add a different name here, you will create a new category. You can see the current categories by looking at a blog post on the live site.

Last img is the name of the image file you will upload into the img directory. See step 6 below.

4 add blog content below this in mark down format

ou can use markdown content here, the easiest way to get familiar with using this style of formating is just try it at:-

The following cheat sheet will show the syntax needed to master markdown.

5 Create img directory and upload an image to theis directory.

On your local computer, rename the image file you are doing to upload to something meaningful, and with no spaces in the name. Then upload this to the img directory.

The name of the file must match what you put for “featured_image” in step 3.

You now need to save these changes and create a mereg request for them

Click the blue commit button - bottom left. The click the tick button top left to ‘Stage all changes’. Or you can click the green stage button top right for each file. Finally you create a merge request by clicking create new branch and the merge request gets also ticked. Click green commit button - bottom left. Fill in any details on merge request you like, for instance you could assign it to someone to ask them to put this live for you.

7 Check the new blog post on the staging server

We will see your merge request, and if all is okay with the new blog - will post it live to first the staging server so you can check it.

Then to production server.

Note you will need to wait for these changes to be pushed live by a developper, so we can be sure the changes are correct syntax etc. All the developers, including Mark and Hussain can make these changes go live.
